Construction waste constitutes a sizable percentage of all landfill in Australia. Recycling of building materials has long been a pre-occupation of our office – not only to reduce waste – but also because recycled materials have a quality that no new material can match. Traces of previous uses are always evident. Salvage is one of a series of custom furniture pieces we have designed in the last 12 months using materials salvaged from building sites around Sydney.
