recycled tallowwood floor boards, "black" steel

We try to reuse and recycle materials from the demolition of all of our projects. Stephen and Marcela were particularly keen on this notion, and also liked the idea of the history of the house being expressed in the new works. In this case the old tallowwood floorboards from the veranda have been recycled into a coffee table for the main living space.

The Garretts are all avid readers of books, newspapers and periodicals and like to have them close at hand. The table is designed as an adjunct to the nearby bookshelves; a place to leave the book/ magazine you are currently reading as well as a shelves under for longer term storage.
